The bell rang.Midday,time to go home.I swing by the office to give theim back the attendance sheet.On my way out i just have the time to read the bulletin board.One posted paper attracted me,Iread it:”YES PROGRAM:be the next youth Morrocan Ambassador in the US”.I loved the idea and once home i talked to my parents about it.Seing my excitement,they couldn’t say nothing but accepting my idea and encouraging it.From there everything went by so fast.Without even realizing it,i found myself in the airport,saying goodbye to my family and friends.
YES program gave me a new perspective by studying in an American high school and living with american families.The goal of the program is the exchange of culture and the mutual understanding and respect between americans and the countries with significant muslim population.During this year, i participated in special enrichment activities that included community services(Campus clean up,Kids night out,Girl Scout,Armed Forces Festival....),youth Leadership training,civics educations program and other activities.I also got my honorary american high school diploma and i am a member of the American National Honor Society.Iwas also very proud to serve as a cultural ambassador for my home country,Morocco,representing my own rich heritage to my host community.
I learned the sens of responsability,created a tolerence spirit,flexible, and willing to engage itself for promoting the intercultural understanding.
